Description

Distribution and abundance of siphonophores in the southern zone of Chile located between Puerto Montt and Laguna San Rafael. 89 oceanographic stations were carried out in the area between October 18 and November 11 of 1995.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 222 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Project Data

Multidisciplinary scientific research cruise developed in the southern zone of Chile, covering the area between Puerto Montt and Laguna San Rafael

Title Cimar Fiordo 1 Cruise
Identifier CIMAR1
Funding Ministry of Finance of the Government of Chile.
Study Area Description Chilean fjords zone
Design Description Carry out multidisciplinary and inter-institutional marine scientific research, coordinated by the National Oceanographic Committee, in the adjacent waters between Canal Chacao and Laguna San Rafael, with the main purpose of increasing knowledge of oceanography region.

Sampling Methods

Oblique zooplankton trawls were developed with a bongo net with a mesh size of 330 µm, between the surface and a depth of 200 m. In the case of stations with depths less than 200 m, trawls were developed at 10 m from the bottom.

Study Extent 89 oceanographic stations were carried out between Puerto Montt and the Laguna San Rafael.
