Description
Over 1,000 Peltigera lichen samples collected and cataloged to date by the Microbial Ecology Lab (Universidad de Chile). We have a very solid compilation of Peltigera cyanolichens samples collected from a wide range of environments from Southern Chile. For this genus, this is certainly one of the largest collections in Chile. We molecularly identified the main symbionts by amplifying and sequencing fungal and cyanobacterial markers. Furthermore, we include for all the specimens georeferencing data and photographs (https://figshare.com/authors/Microbial_Ecology_Lab_UChile_/10487456)

Project Data
The collections and data that allowed the creation of this dataset were supported by the following research projects: (I) FONDECYT 11100381 and INACH F_02-10: Factors involved in a cyano-lichen association: availability, specificity, and selectivity. (ii) FONDECYT 1181510: Selectivity for new symbiotic players in the lichenization process: novel insights into a relationship discovered 150 years ago. Permits for sampling in the protected areas were obtained from CONAF (National Forestry Corporation).
