Description
La Xiloteca de la Universidad de Chile, es una Colección biológica de Maderas nativas y exóticas, en formato macro y microscópico, además de ser un referente nacional con más de 1.000 ejemplares para consulta y apoyo a la investigación. Su colección comienza a formarse en la década de los 60, cuando se crea el Departamento de Tecnología de la Madera, en el Campus Sur.
Esta colección es la base para la docencia e investigación de las principales maderas actuales y arqueológicas del país, la cual se encuentra bajo la tutela del Laboratorio de Anatomía de la Madera, perteneciente al Departamento de Desarrollo de Productos Forestales, de la Universidad de Chile.
